Houses In My Heart

I'm obessing over this interiors book at the moment. 'House in the My Heart' is a beautful collection of photos from designer Carleton Varney. His knowlegde and work in the area of interior design is extensive. The second photo is taken in his sons bathroom! I love the painted mural of banana leaves.
The third and fourth photo are taken from his home in St.Croix. I adore the bamboo four poster bed with a trompe l'oeil of giant palm leaves painted on the wall and how stunning is the "weathered ship's maidenhead" which was found on the island. Wow what a find!
Even though these photos were taken over "twenty" years ago, you can still take ideas and inspiration from them.

My Beach Home is Evolving

The weatherboards are flying on at the moment! I was helping or was it hindering over the weekend. And oh my it was a long way down when I was up the top of the scaffolding. We've tried to keep as much Ti-tree as possible. I love the way their trunks and branches intertwine and they appear to soften the sharp angels and surfaces of the house. Photo 1 shows our ye ever faithful dog Rastous!.... a white tradie dog isn't very dirt friendly!

Pastel Bedroom

Whats not to love with this gorgeous bedroom! It has all the elements that I adore, crisp white walls and accents of turquoise make this my dream bedroom. I love the way they have used the pastel yellow in the starfish cushions and the valance to inject a little warmth to the room. This room oozes 'Beach House' - fresh and simple!
